I have returned to metaphor and allegory, working directly from observation of the familiar: the studio, models, home and family. While the work has always been substantially representational, this change in focus has brought a quality of tone and brushwork to the fore. This body of work represents an in-depth examination of the spaces and personal objects, with and with out figures, that occupy my environment. The specific light, the way it changes, the truisms of perception, are all present. I hope through this examination I have touched on something which is universal.
